A Truly Transformative Experience with Art Riggs – The Rolfing Expert

I’ve had the privilege of working with Art Riggs, a highly skilled and intuitive Rolfer, and I can confidently say that my experience with him has been nothing short of transformative. From the moment I stepped into his practice, I felt welcomed and heard. Art takes the time to understand your body, your unique needs, and any specific pain or tension you may be experiencing. His thoughtful approach to Rolfing – a technique that focuses on deep tissue manipulation and alignment – is truly unmatched.

Art's technique is both precise and gentle. He approaches each session with care and attention, tailoring his methods to address the underlying causes of my discomfort, rather than just treating the symptoms. The changes I’ve experienced in my body have been remarkable: improved posture, increased flexibility, and a significant reduction in chronic pain that I had resigned myself to living with.

What sets Art apart from other practitioners is his deep understanding of anatomy, his ability to listen to the body, and his intuitive touch. He explains each step of the process clearly, and I always feel well-informed about what to expect and how the work will benefit me long term. Art is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to helping his clients achieve lasting results.

If you're seeking a holistic approach to healing, Rolfing with Art Riggs is an incredible experience. Whether you're dealing with specific physical issues or just want to improve your overall well-being, I wholeheartedly recommend Art. His expertise and commitment to his clients' health are truly exceptional! Marcel K.

Thank you, Art!

I met Art over 30 years ago when I was suffering from a tennis glute injury.  I had been told by my doctor that the only solution was rest and to expect a long (year plus) healing process, no running, no tennis, etc. Art watched me walk and after zeroing in on where he thought the problem was and some intensive work, he had me start walking/running slowly and in a relatively short time I was back my regular exercise schedule.

Since then he has helped me with post-operative hip replacement psoas pain and a recent bout of sciatica.  He always conducts a thorough evaluation of the problem, explains his planned approach, tests the results and makes modifications in his treatment as necessary.

Art is also a warm and delightful person which is an added benefit.  I recommend him highly.  - Ophelia B. (Oakland, CA)

I couldn’t recommend anyone to help you with pain and movement related issues more than Art. And I’m an Advanced Rolfer/Manual Therapist myself. In fact, it was working with Art 18 yrs ago that I decided to get into this work and I have taken continuing education classes with him as well. He has a vast amount of knowledge on the subject of orthopedic issues and interventions and he continues to build upon them. On a personal level Art has always been eager to help me and just a very warm and positive energy. The Oakland community is lucky to have this guy.

Art's rolfing skills have been a lifesaver for me. After many years of physical therapy to address longstanding issues with sciatica, muscular imbalances, and tight hip flexors, Art was able to relieve entrenched and unhealthy patterns of movement. There were times in the past ten years when I couldn't sit without nerve pain or walk more than a mile without triggering back issues; his work supported my physical therapy and was truly the key to understanding my body and how to heal.

He's also a warm, lovely and very engaging person with great stories and a wide array of interests, so is really fun to hang out with. Sometimes I miss him and think about booking an appointment even though I don't need any treatment.

I am a Chiropractor and kinesiologist of 46 years, and I highly recommend Art Riggs.

I visited Art after an extensive surgery and he helped me regain mobility and reduce pain. I have been to two other rolfers over the years and what I like about Art is that he checks in with me frequently and elicits my feedback to make sure the procedure is not causing too much pain. He is obviously knowledgeable and experienced ,and looks at the whole body as well as the "problem" area. Connective tissue issues caused by surgery, scarring and, trauma etc. affect not just pain and mobility, but blood, nerve and lymphatic flow

Oh my. Art is a miracle worker. I spent a year visiting various massage therapists around SF Bay for warm-up sessions before booking a serious Rolfing session with Art. I have to say; I decided to book a 2nd and final session as the pain in my calves and right foot slowly dissipated soon after the first session and into the 2nd visit. 5 stars.

I can't say enough good things about Art Riggs and how he has helped me sustain a high functioning quality of life despite my many health issues.

I have been getting physical therapy for scoliosis for the last 15 years, and one day my PT recommended that I go try Rolfing with Art Riggs as a compliment to what she was doing. I was amazed at how good I felt after just one session, and I have been seeing him ever since.

Not only do I see Art for general maintenance but he has also saved me from debilitating pain on several occasions. One specific episode was when I had a pinched nerve with pain shooting down my neck and left arm. I was unable to sleep except in an upright recliner. After a week of muscle relaxers and pain medicines, I decided to give Art a try at it. I was pain free that very day. Another time was when I experienced severe sciatica pain and could not put any weight on my left leg. Same thing - Art worked his magic and my pain was completely gone within a couple of days.

Art is a competent, compassionate professional with high integrity.
He expertly knows the body and its "language" and what it needs to function well. I have not hesitated to bring friends and family to see him as well.

Art Riggs is hands down the most experienced massage therapist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His body work is targeted even on difficult cases and his perspective has helped me traverse through some of my personal misconceptions about chronic pain.

Art is an educator at local massage schools and travels regularly giving seminars and workshops around the world. He's also a nice guy and I genuinely got lucky being referred to him.

An amazing teacher and a superbly experienced bodyworker.

I was fortunate to attend Art's Deep Tissue and Myofascial workshop, and it truly transformed the way I work with my clients.

He is a wise wolf—his knowledge is endless, and his skills go above and beyond. He is a supportive and encouraging person to be around.

Visiting Art provides a deep understanding of what you are working with. He is dedicated to helping people improve, enabling them to live with full function and awareness of their body’s abilities.

I am a massage practitioner and after seeing Art Rigg's DVD set on Deep Tissue massage, and being extremely impressed with his knowledge and expertise, I decided to go to him for Rolfing. Words can't express how his work has transformed me. He is not only great at what he does but one of the most personable and likeable people you'll ever meet. I have since gone to him for fix-it sessions whenever I get an ache or pain and I always leave there scratching my head wondering how he is able to figure out exactly what to do to make me feel better.

Terry L. (Fairfax, CA)

Thanks to Art’s ability to empathically communicate and listen, I felt entirely comfortable and at ease with the entire process, both physical and with our connection....more than any other bodywork / Rolfing practitioner I have encountered. He has an extraordinarily intuitive ability to "read" the human body visually and with his hands--finding and releasing tension and correcting misalignment throughout my body with the utmost patience and focus.  I am  impressed at how deeply knowledgeable he is in anatomy, physiology, the various injuries the body may sustain, along with wisdom about life.  I have to come to rely upon his excellent judgement, knowledge and innate gift in all things related to health with his ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds, from children on up to most aged.
